About Me

My photo
I'm a simple man, not a simpleton. The worst thing any of our leaders can do is to get those two things confused. I'm a warrior for those things I believe in. I stand up for my friends, family, God, and country. All I truly want is for the government to stay as far out of my life as I can get it. Oh and just in case you haven't guessed it; I'm conservative in my bones.

Who Is Really To Blame?

Disclaimer: This one will probably anger a good many of the people that read this blog. I apologize for hurt feelings, however, I must stand by my opinions and assertions.

Ok, so every day I read about 27 different blogs religiously, so to speak. I visit 5 different news sites, and listen to several talk radio personalities. I watch Fox News and every once in a while, I force myself to briefly (very briefly) visit MSNBC or CNN. All this is listed for the purpose of showing that I try to stay informed on the issues, and it doesn't even touch on the fact that I do a LOT of research in Government documents and historical documents to support my opinions. As my profile says, "I'm a simple man, not a simpleton..."

I preface this post this way so as to let people know that I'm not just (or totally anyways) shooting from the hip with my assertions. So, without further ado, let's get to the rat killing.

One and all, Conservatives are laying the current lousy state of affairs at the feet of Barry Obama and the Congress. To a certain point it is not untrue to say that our march to socialism would not be moving at a double time if not for these *ahem* worthy people. However, who is really to blame? Who should be taking it on the chin every morning when they get up, for allowing this to happen? (As my mother used to say, "This is where the toes get pulled under the pew." American Conservatives.

The 10 Trillion dollar debt in the next 10 years? Gitmo closing? Interrogation memos being released? Huge pork laden budget plan? Yep, they all fall on our own shoulders. For years, we've sat back and just let things happen. We were content to sit in our own little worlds and let the "live and let live" mentality dictate our daily lives. Meanwhile, the limp wristed left were showering our government with money, and favors to pull our Republic down roads it was never intended to go.

Roe v. Wade was never beaten back and it's caused the deaths of 49 million children in America. Welfare was not beaten back and it's caused the destruction of the Black family and insured that the black vote goes to democrats every year. Medicare and Social Security were never beaten back and now the "Seasoned Citizen" vote, as Rush Limbaugh would say, goes to the Dems because of fear mongering on the left. The idea of "Gay Rights" has never been stepped on because of the idea that we have to be politically correct and not offend people. Now, marriage is under attack. To justify the leftist policies that they (the left, liberals, dope smoking-maggot infested hippies, whatever you want to call them) have put forth, they have made every attempt to outlaw Christianity. Still, the Conservatives in America did nothing to stop them. And in using the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" point of view the liberals are now advocating tolerance of Islamic beliefs in America. Sharia law anyone?

Oh yes, I know that there have always been small efforts by very dedicated people to overthrow these things, but even we relegated them to the fringe instead of supporting them. We've perhaps, sent contributions to the NRA or to some other Conservative group, but we've never stood up en masse and protested. We've never shown up at the polls with a Conservative candidate to carry our banner, with the notable exception of Reagan. In this last debacle of an election cycle, there were several people that would have made decent conservative Presidents. Alan Keyes stands out, and so does Mitt Romney (his apparent pro-life/pro-choice flipping aside). Instead we settled on John McCain. What the hell were we thinking?!?!? Oh that's right, we WEREN'T.

All we wanted to do was punish the Republicans for acting like Democrats. Congratulations we threw the baby out with the bathwater. What should have happened was to vote out the entrenched incumbents in primaries and keep the Republican numbers up. But the "let's punish the Republican" idea took hold and poof, we've got Barry Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Arlen Specter, and a 10 trillion dollar deficit. We've got a government that cut its own throat in regards to protecting our nation. We've got Nationalization of private companies and the largest power grab by an administration in U.S. history.

Who's to blame? Look in the mirror. How do we fix it? Now that's a hard question, and I believe that America doesn't want to look that one in the eyes yet.

I think those who consider themselves to be conservatives, as a group, tend to be very polite and to treat people like they would like to be treated.

The result is that they are less likely to get into shouting matches, seek a fight and/or insist on getting their way.

Connie Mack, from our area, is supposed to be one of the "good guys," but in my opinion he has been too busy "being concerned" rather than being outraged!

Your basic premise is right on.

Thanks Joe. I've noticed that about a lot of career politicians. They've lost their ability to be outraged.

I see that as a sign that a person has given his soul for the ability to play nice. We must not offend, after all.

I wanna see a rabid right winger run for President. I want someone to stand up and make the case that the Dems and the Usurper in chief are traitors. I want someone who's willing to get up and just say no to anything that smacks of government interferance.

I agree, Greywolf. I want to see someone with a backbone stand up and say what needs to be said. I'm tired of hearing so-called conservatives in the media being wishy-washy about all of this. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and a few other talk show hosts are the only ones with a platform who actually speak out. Our politicians are wusses!

GW:
It's your blog so say what you will, if you are respected it won't matter if you get negative feedback. Perhaps it will make people think. You are spot on. When we look in the mirror, we are to blame. Our own complacency and ignorance in the system and so forth.

All politicians are wusses. Or rather, the majority of them are wusses, Gayle!

We are in a war on the homefront. We don't have time to play nice-nice with the enemy.
